| Q:
When should I begin studying for my SAT's
at SLK?
A: You can begin
anytime (as soon as possible) and SLK can
help you prepare. Whether your goals are
short-term or long-term, for spring or fall
SAT test dates.
Q: What is
tested in the SAT's?
A: There are three
sections tested on the S.A.T.:
Critical Reading: Composed
of Passage-Based Reading questions, which
test a studentfs reading comprehension,
and Sentence Completions, which test a studentfs
vocabulary.
Writing:
composed of Multiple-Choice questions that
test a studentfs grammar through Improving
Sentences, Improving Paragraphs and Sentence
Error Identifications, and a newly included
essay section that tests a studentfs ability
to write a short essay on an assigned topic
in twenty-five minutes.
Math:
Composed of Multiple-Choice and Student-Produced-Response
Questions covering Arithmetic, Applied Arithmetic
Concepts such as averages and rates, Elementary
Algebra and basic Geometry.
Q: How is
the SAT scored?
A: Each of the three
sections is scored on a scale from 200 to
800 points, for a total possible score of
2400.
Q: What will
I learn in this class?
A: You will learn
the proven test taking techniques necessary
for a high score on this particular test.
Q: What is
SLKfs student-to-teacher ratio?
A: There will be
no more than 10 per class. If you prefer,
private tutoring is
available at a rate of $60 per hour.
Q: How will
I know where to begin and where to focus
the most energy?
A: Your first step
will be to complete an S.A.T. pre-test.
An SLK tutor will review your results to
determine your strengths and areas for specific
focus and improvement.
Q: Does SLK
guarantee success?
A: SLKfs policy is
to guarantee a 200 pt increase from the
pretest to the actual test. Most students
will meet this goal. In the event the 200
pt increase isnft met, we will offer the
full course again at no charge. SLK does
guarantee that the motivated student who
attends SLK classes faithfully will show
substantial improvement in practice test
scores. However, our point guarantee is
null and void should the student miss a
class or fail to do the assigned homework.
Q:
How realistic are SLK practice tests?
A:
The practice test questions are taken from
the official SAT national guide.
Q:
What if I need primary help with just one
portion of the SAT?
A: The student
may request a specific focus, but pre-testing
will be our main determining factor. Tutor
focus will adjust accordingly.
Q:
How are SLK's SAT classes organized and
scheduled?
A: The process
begins with a pre-test so that the teacher
can assess strengths and needs. Upon completion,
the program will be five 3-hour sessions
of instructions (a total of 15 hours), and
four 4-hour tests - covering SAT content
and test-taking techniques. A post-test
will be given on the second to last lesson,
with results discussed and analyzed on the
final lesson, one week before the studentfs
actual S.A.T. test date.
Q:
Is there flexibility within the basic SLK
schedule? What if I miss SLK classes I have
paid for?
A: There are
no make-up lessons for missed classes. However,
for students taking private lessons, SLK
and SLK teachers will make every reasonable
effort to accommodate the student and his
or her family. Again, any absences will
result in voiding the point guarantee.
Q:
Does SLK offer its high quality test preparation
for any other tests?

tests, SLK can help! SLK can arrange programs
